So many people come in and out of our lives over the years, it can be pretty hard to keep track.
However, there are some people you can just never forget, no matter how long it's been since you've seen them. For retired firefighter Mike Hughes, there have been quite a few people he's helped in his lifetime, but the one who stood out the most was one little girl he helped all the way back in 1998.
Firefighters do some pretty amazing things like rescue tiny kittens from drain pipes and break into cars to help children in danger of dying from heatstroke like this baby boy was. Yet there's nothing quite like rushing into a fire and being able to rescue someone helpless and trapped inside. That's why this former Wenatchee, WA firefighter will never forget Dawnielle Davidson, the baby girl he rescued from her crib as her family's home burnt to the ground around her.
The heroic rescue made headline news 17 years ago and the duo has everyone talking again, after Hughes attended Davidson's high school graduation to check in on the girl he saved so many years ago. As you can see in this video, the two have a very special bond and it meant a lot to Davidson to have her hero there cheering her on as she accepted her diploma.
