Summer's drawing to a close, but that doesn't mean the opportunity for building DIY projects at home is over.
In fact, it's quite the contrary. Many outdoor DIY projects are evergreen, and making things now can only mean one thing: you'll have them ready for when summertime next comes around, and you'll also be free to use them at your leisure.
Reddit user whysocereus and his brother put their handy skills to good use right before the long Labor Day weekend, and decided to build something in their backyard that utilized a minimal amount of heavy construction tools.
The finished product was pretty astounding. They could have fooled me with the final price tag! In the end, the brothers spent less than $140 on the tools used for building their masterpiece.
Scroll further to see photos of their construction process, and to find out exactly how simple this DIY project is. Let us know what you think of it in the comments below!
Reddit user whysocereus and his brother started out by using 34 Crestone Beveled Retaining wall blocks.

They prepared a flattened area in the backyard and lined the blocks around a central fire ring.

Then, they used the fire ring as a stencil to apply the second layer. Afterward, a caulk adhesive was used to permanently stabilize the layer.

A third and final row of blocks was added. The fire ring was inserted back in the opening, and rested on top of the third layer.

Both the interior of the pit and the surrounding area was strewn with pea pebbles.

And that was it! The brothers had simply and successfully constructed the pit with materials that amounted to less than $150.

We've seen several at-home tutorials for fire pits before, but none have truthfully looked quite so simple. There's no additional preparation needed to set the blocks, and no form of landscaping is necessary, either.

We hope that these brothers enjoyed using their fire pit this past weekend. Definitely let us know if you plan to build something similar in your backyard!
