He Painted Some Boards White To Make This Impeccable DIY Sliding Barn Door!

I don't often get to remodel my apartment. It's not only costly, but I usually don't have the time to commit to do the the work myself.

I guess that's why I like little DIY projects I can do here and there to spruce up the place where I live.

For example, you can take old CDs and make an incredible backsplash, or use cordwood to create a custom hardwood floor. Small projects here and there can really make a huge difference.

This DIY project below highlighting how to make your own sliding barn doors was posted by Imgur user April Chateauneuf and is a personal favorite of mine. The finished result in the photos below is for a bathroom, but I'd love to put these doors on my bedroom closet, personally.

I'm not a very "crafty" or "handy" person, but this one seems simple enough that I'd be glad to give it a try. How about you? Would you want something like this in your house? Let us know in the comments!

The user started by using a water-based stain on all sides of some loose pine boards. The boards were also measured to ensure they'd fit across the door frame.

The user wanted something of a distressed look so they applied white paint in a purposefully messy fashion, then scraped part of it off using a method called blocking.

Next, they applied Elmer's glue to the board in one direction, and then lightly skimmed the glue with white paint. This further enhanced their desired "distressed" look.

Once the boards were joined, the user attached the cross boards using wood glue and nails.

Screw eye hooks were attached to the top corners of the doors, and fixed casters were added to the bottom of the door.

A word of advice from the craftsperson who uploaded the photos: "Make sure the pipe is high enough that the door stands perfectly upright but not so high that the weight is no longer on the casters."

The finished product is unique, fun, and certainly one-of-a-kind.

Is it something you could see having in your home? I'd love it.
