Though weddings are a wonderful, celebratory time in one's life — they can also break the bank. Renting venues, bridal showers, refreshments, and more — it all adds up!
Thankfully, more and more money-savvy couples are finding DIY ways to cut down on their wedding costs. And with sites like Pinterest and Instagram, it's easy to find inspiration when trying to craft the wedding of your dreams — like with these beautiful votive candle holders using a little salt!
But one extra thrifty soon-to-be groom decided to take on the task of crafting his wedding invitations himself — and I couldn't believe how professional they looked!
When budgeting your wedding, invitations can turn into a huge expense, but Imgur user barnardco took a few simple supplies and turned them into one of the best invitation designs I've ever seen — and all for under $150!
And so can you! Just follow the steps below and your wedding guests will be blown away by these thoughtful and beautiful invitations.
To save a ton on his wedding invitations, this soon-to-be-groom started by creating the initial design on his computer. He then sent them off to the printers.

After receiving the paper invites in the mail, he cut off the corners to size.

He got some high-quality black paper to use as a frame, cropping it to leave a few millimeters around the white invite.

Then he assembled all of his other supplies: scissors, glue, a scalpel, ribbon, and a fridge magnet.

He glued the white invite onto the black card.

Next he cut about 50cm of the black ribbon, making sure to angle it.

Then he folded the outer white card into its proper shape.

He marked a few millimeters above and below the ribbon, then cut a line between the dots, repeating on the other side.

Next he slid the ribbon through both of the cuts.

Afterwards, he glued the invite to the outer card (on top of the ribbon).

He added the magnet to the center of the invitation. Almost there!

Then he tied it all into an elegant bow. Just beautiful.

Finally, he placed the invite on the fridge. So functional!
