When Tina Hudson went to drop off a stray at the city of Schenectady's dog shelter, she was appalled by what she saw.
"I saw a holding tank for dogs. There's no air conditioning inside the facility, there's nobody that takes them out for walks, they're not allowed outside to play, they're in their cage 27/7 until their 7-day stray hold is up."
While Schenectady law enforcement says that dogs do remain inside while their 7-day hold is in process, they deny that the dogs are mistreated. There are people who look after them, Lt. Mark Mccracken told news media. They have blankets, and they are cared for.
While there are claims that dogs are housed in the nondescript building much longer than they should be, the city maintains that animal control visits the facility often, and they always pass inspections.
