Middle school can be a tough time. Kids are changing and becoming more aware than ever before, and as a result, it can feel hard to fit in.
Now imagine dealing with all of that, plus having psychic abilities. It may sound like a Hollywood plot, but it's very much the reality for two East Coast 11-year-olds who experience a variety of psychic inclinations.
Jon and Ellen Edmonson noticed their son, Ethan, was different at 2 years old. He told his parents he'd been playing with his grandmother, who is deceased.
"My mother passed away when Ethan was about three-and-a-half months old, so we both just kind of looked at each other and were like 'OK, that's interesting,' and that was the first kind of peek at when it started," Ellen told Inside Edition.
As he became school-aged, Ethan felt different and shut out by his peers. The abilities he was describing also began to give him anxiety.
"The spirits, they were just staring at me and it really scared me," he shared.
In Pennsylvania, Denise Pekarek was having similar experiences with her daughter, Kendyll.
"When I first found out she had abilities, I was just mortified," Denise shared.
"I had no idea what to do. There is no number to call. I first looked into paranormal groups in the area to help me, which they did. They came over and talked to us about what Kendyll was seeing and verified that she was definitely seeing and hearing spirits."
The discovery made Kendyll withdraw.
"She had quit all of her activities, dance, gymnastics, everything just stopped," Denise shared.
"She just kind of went into seclusion."
Kendyll and Ethan both found comfort and community in A&E's Psychic Kids.
"I still feel different, but I still know I'm human and not too different from everyone else," Ethan shared.
