7 Fun And Easy Craft Ideas That Are All Made Using Empty Toilet Paper Rolls

If there was ever a time to get crafty, now is that time. With kids hanging out at home, there is really only so much TV to be watched. Actually, there's tons of TV to be watched with Netflix, Disney+, and all of the amazing streaming networks out there. But honestly, there are just too many fun craft projects to do, and there's definitely plenty of time to do them.

But the thing is, we aren't all natural-born crafters, and that's OK. If you don't know how to knit, or sew, or felt, and you really just don't want to deal with a lot of mess (stay out of here, slime-making projects!), you're in luck. There are tons of mess-free and simple crafts to do with your kids. And that's important, because while crafts are fun and all, kids don't always have the most nimble fingers, either. But you also need the right supplies, and that can be tough. One thing most of us are stocked up on, though, is toilet paper.

With all of those empty toilet paper rolls getting thrown in the recycling bin, you'll have just about everything you need to get started on these craft projects. Plus, they're so simple a child could create them, which is kind of the point.

These seven projects using toilet paper rolls are for the regular parents — not just the crafty ones. Better yet, these activities are so simple, you might get them done without a (mommy) meltdown.

Ninja Turtles

These Ninja Turtles are just too adorable not to make. If you have a little Ninja Turtle fan in the house, you can make the whole bunch or their favorite character. All you really need is some paint or construction paper! Plus, you can add stick-on eyes or other little quirks. You can definitely use this idea as inspiration to make other TV characters, too.

Binoculars

This cute craft idea comes from Laura Brand, who is the wife of actor Russell Brand and author of the new craft book, The Joy Journal. Not only is making binoculars a fun and simple idea for kids, but it can also lead to some really great exploration. The Joy Journal has tons of other nature-based ideas that are really simple and unique but help kids harness their creativity.

Elephants and Other Animals

Most kids love animals and will love making some of their favorite furry (or slimy!) friends. These elephants are so adorable, your kids will definitely want to add these to their toilet paper roll zoo.

Pick your kids' favorite animals and get crafty. Whether it's a dog, cat, or snake, it can probably be made using your new favorite household crafting item — empty toilet paper rolls!

Stamps

Another amazing thing you probably never thought of doing with your empty toilet paper rolls is using them like you would use stamps! You can use whatever paint you have around, whether it's poster paint or acrylic. Just make sure it's washable, of course. Then use your roll as the stamper to create circles, flowers, and a whole variety of designs.

Red Riding Hood and Friends

Little Red Riding Hood is a classic fairy tale that kids love, so they'll definitely want to get in on making the whole gang. But there are tons of other fairy tales you can choose from, too, like The Three Little Pigs. Get creative and draw from whatever your kids are into at the moment. In addition to using toilet paper rolls, you can also add yarn, felt, or whatever you have around the house.

Bug Rolls

Kids love bugs, especially the cute ones — you know, like ladybugs and butterflies. They're even cuter when they aren't real, however. These toilet paper roll bugs will certainly be the most adorable ones around your house, for sure. Add googly eyes, paint, straws, or pipe cleaners for some extra buggy flair.
