During an ordinary trip to Walgreens to buy some dog food, 20-year-old Cassie Rogers ended up saving a stranger's life.
The Iowa woman noticed Mary Smith, 85, crouched over in the driver's seat of her car in the store's parking lot. She immediately knew something was wrong and called over an officer from the Davenport Police Department who happened to be nearby.
As it turns out, Smith had suffered a massive heart attack and became unconscious. Rogers' concern ended up saving the elderly woman's life — that was also the case when a kind delivery man leapt into action for a 75-year-old who had fallen on ice.
Rogers' actions emphasizes how important it is for anyone to step in in time of need. And she's now urging anyone with the ability to help another to do so.
"If you see something is not right and you know that it's not right, go help. Don't be one of those people that just walks on by like, 'I don't care, I don't know them,'" she told WQAD. "Help someone. Maybe someone's going to help you."
