If a robber got right in the passenger's seat of your car, what would you do? Most of us would hope that we respond the same way 92-year-old Pauline Jacobi did. The grandmother had just left Wal-Mart after putting groceries in the trunk of her car. When she got in, so did an armed robber who immediately began to threaten her life. He told her that if she didn't give him all of her money, he was going to shoot her. Pauline told the robber "no," three times. Then she said something that changed everything.
“If you kill me, I’ll go to heaven and you’ll go to hell,” she said. “Jesus is in this car and he goes with me everywhere I go.” She ministered to the robber for 10 minutes. Not knowing if the man would take her life right then and there. Then finally the man agreed, he told he would go home and pray. He didn't want any money from Pauline anymore. But Pauline understood what had just happened… maybe she had given this man a bit of hope, maybe he would choose a better path, maybe all he needed was some help.
So she gave him everything she had left, $10. Then the man thanked her and kissed her on the cheek. If violence is never the answer, then kindness really sure is…
