Prosecutors Ask That Ethan Crumbley’s Parents Show Respect After Blowing Kisses At Court

The parents of Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley are causing problems at court, though it might not be for reasons that you might suspect. Jennifer and James Crumbley caused quite the stir while appearing in front of a judge on February 3, 2022, because they couldn't seem to control their public displays of affection.

The pair were seen mouthing "I love you" to one another and blowing kisses, which caused Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor Markeisha Washington to ask the judge to rein them in.

Washington pointed out that the family of Ethan's victims were likely harmed by the behavior. She said, "These communications … not only disparage the integrity of the judicial proceedings as a serious distraction, but are also traumatic for families of the deceased victims."

Chief Assistant Prosecutor David Williams agreed. As he put it, "Mr. & Mrs. Crumbley’s conduct in court makes a mockery of the crimes they are accused of committing. The courtroom is not a place for blowing kisses and sending secret signals. This is a time for families to pursue justice."
