This Cell Phone Could Save A Life, But Not Enough People Know How. I Was Amazed When I Learned.

Facebook is used for many things: Catching up with old friends, staying connected with family, and providing entertainment when it's time to relax. On your phone or at your desk, it's a great way to stay informed.

But this massive social networking site — claiming more than 750 million daily users — has some other important uses in mind, and it's hoping you'll pay attention.

For the past week, I've seen nothing but the devastation currently affecting Nepal. On every channel and in every paper, news of the tragedy is everywhere.

But somehow, despite being bombarded with striking images and horrifying facts, I've completely sidestepped the issue. I go to work, I come home, and I live like no one is suffering in the world.

Then one day, I logged onto Facebook and an interesting message caught my eye. I saw my name, then a hand holding a heart — and finally, the message sunk in.

Now, after doing some research, I'm beginning to realize the gravity of natural disasters, and I'm making sure I'm prepared when a crisis strikes — and it's all thanks to Facebook.
