The worst thing about buying something online is all of the fake products online.
Unless you buy directly from the website, you can never guarantee you're getting the real deal. Chances are, if you see a great deal for something that is usually very expensive, it is a scam.
When it comes to fake perfume, some knockoffs are downright laughable. How could anyone believe that that was a real bottle of Dior or Chanel when they saw the label on the bottle?
But then there are sellers on reputable sites, like Amazon, that manage to sneak in their high-quality looking fake bottle of perfume. You almost think it's real, and you paid basically the real price for the bottle, but you managed to get scammed out of your money.
Here are nine tips on telling the real from the fake when it comes to perfume!

Design
If the design on the bottle feels off, then it definitely is.
On first glance, if the label or font looks like it doesn't match or is askew, then that bottle is a knockoff.
Bottle
You can always tell if a bottle of perfume is real if the bottle is high quality. You're not going to find a real bottle of Jean Patou with the seams glued together incorrectly.
Bottle Caps
The bottle cap should be symmetrical.
Unless specifically designed to be asymmetrical, the bottle cap should line up perfectly in the center.
Perfume Color
If the perfume looks very dark, it is probably a fake.
Famous brands do not use a lot of dye in their products, so their perfumes tend to have a paler coloring.
Labels
Look at the labels on the boxes — does it look like the logo is off? Does all of the information provided match up with what is on that company's website? If not, then the box is a knockoff.
Packaging
Not only will the box that the bottle of perfume comes in look nice, it will also be sturdy.
The paperboard on which a bottle of perfume sits on will be made from a thicker material if your perfume is authentic.
Wrapping
Famous brands use high-quality wrapping processes.
When you first get the package, if the cellophane on the box is a mess, it is most likely a fake.
Serial Number
The serial number is usually printed on the bottle, not glued on.
You can match the serial number directly to the serial number of the box the perfume came in.
Perfect Edges
If the edge of the package is not perfectly crisp and it doesn't appear to be from damage in transit, then it is a fake.
There shouldn't be messy edges, extra glue, or uneven wrapping on the box.
