Carrie Jernigan took her kids to the mall to buy them some new shoes. While browsing the aisles in Payless, her oldest daughter was instantly struck by a pair of Avengers sneakers — but she didn't want them for herself.
Her daughter said there was a boy in her class who absolutely loved the Avengers franchise, but his shoes were too small. She asked Carrie if she could buy her classmate a new pair of shoes instead. The proud mom was happy to make the purchase.

The one simple gesture sparked a much larger idea to help as many underprivileged children in their Arkansas community as possible.
While standing in line at the cash register, Carrie asked a question that left the clerk rather dumbfounded: "How much for the rest of the shoes in the store?"
The employee rang up the few pairs of shoes in Carrie's cart, and then, rather than selling Carrie every single pair the store had in stock, the cashier asked for her phone number.
