We all want different things. Some want fame, others want fortune, and some of us just want some peace and quiet — and what better way to do that than on a boat fishing in a lake?
Many people have fallen for the act of fishing hook, line, and sinker. You experience serenity, anticipation, excitement, and, if you’re anything like the little boy in this video, confusion over whether or not the scaly creature you just caught likes you.
Yet, what happens when you love to fish but can’t afford a boat? Sure, you can cast a reel over a bridge or off a pier or dock, but it not the same as being aboard a vessel, swaying with the water.
One Reddit user, lifeisgood_dude, knew that traditional boat ownership for him was as likely as him turning into a merman. Yet, that didn’t stop him from doing something magical with an inflatable raft…

He bought an inflatable raft with seats.
He blew it up with the pump that came with the float, it took him seven minutes and the raft ended up being 12 feet long.
Next he lined the floor of with cardboard cutouts to get the exact contours of the bottom of the raft.
He took the cutouts and used them as a stencil as he cut pieces of wood.
After the wood was cut, he placed it on the bottom of the raft. It fit perfectly.
He then used his cardboard stencils to cut out indoor/outdoor carpet into the same shape as the wooden floor.
Then he placed the carpet over the wood. This raft is becoming très chic, no?
Open wooden boxes were then fashioned.
The wooden boxes also got the carpet service.
Fancy seats were then installed, turning something inflatable into something almost unfathomable.
No fishing boat is complete without a stereo, so he hooked himself up.
The stereo and speakers were then mounted and the wiring was hidden inside a carpeted box with a lid.
A seat was placed upon the speaker.
Finally, he used a 55-pound trolling motor to get his creation moving and tested it out on a lake.
“My fishing partner and I could both stand and fish with perfect stability,” he reported. “Overall, I am very pleased with how this turned out.”
