Recently, the Saskatoon Parrot Rescue brought in a neglected ex-breeder parrot named Jo-Jo. Because Jo-Jo was confined to a small, round cage, she's currently in poor condition and holds her neck to the side. Though round cages are readily available at most pet stores, the round shape is believed to be very dangerous for parrots. Birds need cages with corners so they can perch and sit; round cages keep them searching for a place to rest, which can be psychologically and physically harmful. "Round cages need to be taken out of production!" the Saskatoon Parrot Rescue says.
In the following video, you'll meet a beautiful and sassy cockatoo named Miss Pebble, who was also rescued by Saskatoon and grew up in a small round cage. Under Pebble's supervision, one of the bird heroes decides to teach Jo-Jo's round cage — and the internet at large — a lesson. The video is entitled "How to fix a round cage," but it's more like how to destroy one. RIP, round cage.
Miss Pebble reacts to the destruction by hurling expletives and going absolutely bonkers. But don't worry — Miss Pebble is not in distress. Since her previous owner taught her some fowl language, Pebble is ready to let out some aggression as she cheers on the cage-smashing. This clip was all set up, and her behavior is common for cockatoos.
The Saskatoon Parrot Rescue rehabilitates and finds forever homes for unwanted, neglected and abused parrots. All of them are entertaining, each one with their own unique personality — and as you're about to see, Pebble is charming, funny and full of life.
