Have you ever dreamed of giving your home a makeover?
Maybe it's a whole new color scheme for your walls; maybe it's a large-scale remodeling of your bathrooms and kitchen.
I know I've thought about both of these things, but one detail I never paid all that much attention to is the ceilings. I've always just left them plain old white!
This crafty dad's project, however, turns the notion of a "plain old ceiling" totally — and literally! — upside down.
He doesn't just paint the ceiling; he actually glues floorboards to it for a totally original home flip.
The project, according Imgur user BSchuteker, is one he started several years ago after his wife had the idea to put wood on the ceiling.
In their first attempt, they bought vinyl stick-on floor tiles for the decoration. While the result looked good, it didn't hold, and the tiles started falling off just days later.

Here's what the bedroom looked like at the beginning of their latest endeavor. The ceiling was covered in stripes and squiggles from all the different types of glue they had tried to use, none of which held.
The room, which used to be their son's, had been sitting empty for a couple of years after he moved down the hallway into a bigger room.
Undeterred by their lack of success in the past, Dad got to work.
This time around, they used Pergo laminate floor tiles for the project and both glued and nailed them to the ceiling.
It's clear how much work went into this makeover — just look how perfectly each row of tiles lines up with the next. All that remained at this point was to cover the gaps at the edges.
And voilà! With a nice white finish between the ceiling and the walls, the room got the perfectly crisp final touch.
"Helper / Boss / Designer / Love of my Life," the husband writes of his wife, pictured here in the finalized room. "The inspiration for the project was hers and she also painted the stripes on the walls."
And it looks like they're not the only ones enjoying the cozy feel of their new room!
