A busy freeway is no place for a human, let alone a tiny dog. With cars whizzing by at high speeds, any creature that dares to walk among them is certainly in harm's way. Oblivious to the impending danger, one stray dog fearlessly strutted down the highway. He might have met his maker sooner if it hadn't been for these two amazing and thoughtful cops.
Fort Worth police officers Allen Speed and Paul Garcia were eastbound on Interstate 30 when they saw a dog wandering aimlessly through traffic. Though it wasn't easy to get the tiny rat terrier mix to get off the road, they used all means necessary. The officers temporarily set up a road block and eventually managed to lure the pup in with treats.
It's hard to imagine that two busy police officers would take such time-consuming measures just to save a stray, but it's nice to know some officers extend their duty to protect and serve to all living things.
Officers Speed and Garcia named their new friend "Beach" after the street he was found on. Beach is available for adoption at the Humane Society of North Texas.
