A German Domino Club Breaks The Record For Most Books Toppled In A Glittery Display

I remember when I was little, I had a set of tiny rectangles made of plastic that I would set up on the kitchen floor. These dominoes were super neon rectangles that made the best little tinktinktink sound when then fell to the ground. However, I was a little too clumsy to make anything noteworthy. My miniature creation would always fall right to the ground when I'd accidentally bump the tile with my finger.

That's why I'm always so impressed when I see dominoes fall down on a huge scale. It must take so much patience to set up so many individual components to a huge piece, especially when it's all going to fall down in a matter of seconds (or in some extreme cases, minutes). One false move and hours of meticulous work can go down the drain, and you'll have to start all over again from scratch.

In October 2015, Sinners Domino Entertainment set out to accomplish greatness in the domino world. During the Frankfurt Book Fair, publisher Hoffman und Campe hosted an event especially for this group to try their hand at breaking the Guinness World Record for most books toppled in a domino fashion. And to make the feat even more special… they used 10,200 hot-off-the press copies of the 2016 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records during their attempt.
