There have been some incredibly talented performers on So You Think You Can Dance over the past 13 seasons, but perhaps none as memorable as Robert “Mr. Fantastic” Muraine. Although the Los Angeles native eventually dropped out of the competition due to difficult choreography, his talented robot audition wowed the judges and helped him launch his career as a commercially successful dancer.
Muraine stuns with the best robot dance I’ve ever seen! His controlled movements are all at once impressive and hilarious. The judges don’t really know what to make of his seemingly double-jointed skills at first, but by the end, they are raving about his talent.
“You are officially my favorite dancer of 2008,” says coach Nigel Lythgoe, adding his unique ability is “just tremendous.”
“You put us on a big roller coaster,” adds coach Mary Murphy. “You just do all these crazy moves I’ve never seen before.”
Lythgoe later asks him to show a move he was doing while warming up, in which he gradually bends himself in half… backward! I truly have never seen anything like the moves that Muraine exhibits, and would definitely injure myself if I even attempted them!
