And people have gotten so creative with their mobile home remodeling that they are often able to transform old, beat-up Airstreams into stunningly beautiful campers, like this Airstream that was converted into every woman's dream.
So when I saw the remodeling ideas that went into one incredibly unique DIY Airstream transformation, I knew I had to take a closer look.
When Katy McLaughlin finished cosmetology school, she was sure that she wanted to open her own salon. But rather than renting a salon space somewhere, she decided to take her business to a whole new level. In an effort to bring her salon right to her clients' doorsteps, this Texan converted an old Airstream into a mobile hair salon.
And the results? Katy is now the proud owner of one of the most stunning Airstreams I have ever seen. I can't believe the before and after pictures — the transformation is absolutely incredible.

When Katy first decided to convert this Airstream into a mobile salon, the outside was in OK shape, but the interior was a disaster.
The Airstream was still equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and flimsy wooden walls.
Katy knew that she had her work cut out for her, so she decided to remove everything from the interior of the Airstream.
With an empty shell, she could start from scratch in building out her dream salon.
Her team worked tirelessly to replace flooring, insulation, and electrical wiring.
They built entirely new furniture, and began to bring in brand new salon equipment and chairs.
They replaced the windows and covered the new insulation before painting the interior, paying great attention to every detail.
Katy's team installed overhead lighting and buffed the exterior of the Airstream until it shined like new.
And the results? Katy's mobile salon was barely recognizable as the old, beat-up Airstream it once was.
The custom-designed salon featured a large waiting area, as well as two salon chairs side by side.
The teal accents in the paint and the furniture gave the interior of the salon an almost retro feel.
Katy decided to name her salon Hair and There. She and her partner have the salon located at a permanent location, but they can take it on the road anytime someone wants a salon to come to them.
Katy brings her Airstream salon right to people's homes for parties, weddings, and even business events.
Katy's success as a hair stylist and business owner is already impressive — but her success as a DIYer who created this incredible Airstream salon is unparalleled.
This renovated Airstream has not only been restored to its former glory on the outside, but has been given a surprising new life as a stunning hair salon on the inside.
