Harry Styles just changed a fan's life in the sweetest way. He helped McKinley McConnell, a Harry Style's superfan, come out to her mother as a gay woman.
It happened when the singer was performing at his concert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this week. While onstage, something caught his eye. McKinley was holding up a sign, asking for Harry's help. It read: "My mom is in Section 201. Help me come out."
Harry literally stopped in the middle of his set to do just that. It quickly turned into a moment that everyone in the audience, not to mention McKinley and her mother, would never forget.
In the super-sweet video, which McKinley shared on TikTok, you can see the singer jog across the stage to get to her. He kneels down and asks his superfan what she'd like to tell her mother. McKinley is understandably nervous about talking into the microphone, but Harry has her back.
"There's a lot of people!" she says, adorably.
"Yeah, there is a lot of people," Harry says, before offering to help reveal the news himself. "OK, do you want to tell her, or should I tell her?" he asks.
McKinley gives the singer the go-ahead, so he jogs over to the other side of the stage and looks up to where McKinley's mother is sitting. "Lisa, she's gay!" he yells as the audience breaks into cheers and applause.
McKinley's mother can be seen on the jumbotron, blowing kisses to her daughter. She was clearly in support of her coming out in such a bold way. The moment was incredibly touching, especially for the mom and daughter. Harry seemed pretty moved by it, too.
McKinley posted several follow-up videos to her TikTok after the life-changing incident. She also spoke to NBC News about what happened that night.
"I literally got her the ticket so last minute," she said. "I was lucky to get a ticket for the general admission pit for myself. I know my mom, and she wouldn't have been up for the pit."
"I'm really beyond blessed that both my parents are so supportive," she continued. "And I think they probably always suspected, even though you try to act like they don't. She just kept saying she loves me and is proud of me."
McKinley is forever grateful for the amazing moment. She took to Twitter to share her appreciation for the singer, writing, "Thank you for creating a safe place for me. thank you for letting me grow along side you as a fan. thank you for helping me know who i am. thank you."
