Here's what you'll need to make this tasty Valentine's Day treat.
- 1 package of puff pastry
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup pink sprinkles
First, remove the puff pastry from the package.
Lay out the dough on a floured work surface and spread out flat.
Once your dough is laid out, sprinkle with sugar. Scatter spoonfuls of sugar throughout the pastry so that it's evenly layered across the dough.
Make sure to get to every corner.
Once the sugar is evenly scattered, grab a rolling pin.
Use the rolling pin to gently press the grains of sugar into the dough.
Make sure the sugar is all embedded in the dough firmly.
Begin rolling dough inwardly. Roll the top of the dough down tightly and stop in when you get to the middle.
Next, start rolling the remaining dough up from the bottom.
Once you've finished rolling all the dough, the two sides should meet in the middle.
It should look like a "log" of pastry dough, but with a seam through the center.
Next, start slicing your roll of dough into slices.
You should end up with small cross-sections of the dough. Each one will have the spiral pattern of the roll.
Lay out all your slices on a lightly greased baking sheet, or on a baking sheet lined in waxed paper.
If you want, you can gently pinch the bottoms of the pastry spirals into points. That will make them look even more like hearts!
Next, grab your pink sprinkles. Scatter the sprinkles across the top of the pastries.
Keep going until they're all fully coated in pink, then pop them in the oven.
Bake pastries for 15 minutes at 400 °F, or until golden brown.
Serve pastries to all of your very favorite valentines and enjoy!
