The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust has rescued and successfully released over 150 orphaned infant elephants and has done some amazing work to preserve the wildlife in Kenya. Among their most touching stories is the rescue of a three-month-old elephant bull named Ndume.
After he was released into the wild, Ndume lived for over 20 years in Tsavo National Park with other wild elephants, but had rarely been seen, so everyone was worried about his survival. Finally, in February 2015, he returned closer to home and had a magical reunion with his former keepers.
In the video, the now 26-year-old Ndume stood completely still for a few moments when he heard the voices of the men who'd raised and cared for him. As the wild animal approached the vehicle, he let out a welcoming rumble. It's a beautiful moment and the men in the vehicle are obviously overjoyed. Their faces say it all as they realize their hard work and dedication paid off!
