She Looks Like A Normal Horse, But When You Look Closely? This Makes Me So Mad!

WARNING: The following video contains graphic and shocking images of animal abuse.

We feature a lot of animal rescue stories on LittleThings, but it's important to remember who led the way for all the brave heroes out there. The Humane Society of the United States is the nation's largest and longest-running animal protection organization. We've seen them rescue hoards of dogs from illegal backyard breeders like they did at this one in Arizona, but the truth is that we only hear about a small portion of the amazing work that they do.

When I hear about animal abuse, I usually think of dogs and cats, but they also do plenty for wild animals and farm animals, too. Just like the time they rescued 84 horses from an ice-covered farm, the HSUS answered a call to check out a Lindale, TX ranch where horses were in dire need of help.

What they found shocked me to my core. About 50 horses, including pregnant mothers and young babies, were living on the property without any food or water. They found teeth marks on bare trees from horses trying to find something to eat and a horrifying amount of bones and carcasses from horses that had perished.

It breaks my heart and completely blows my mind that a human could do this to these gentle giants. However, like they say in the video, you just have to look forward in a situation like this. Hopefully every horse in this herd can get the second chance they deserve.
