If you've ever found yourself staying in hotel rooms night after night on a long trip, then you know it can be a pretty lonely experience. Even with your family or friends along for the ride, you still end up eating out most nights since standard hotel rooms don't often come with kitchen amenities. But what if I told you that you could enjoy the comfort of a home-cooked meal right inside your hotel room?
That's what Natalie Tran shows us in this video, which she filmed while on her world trip with Lonely Planet. During her lengthy travels, Tran ended up spending nearly every night in a different hotel room and soon grew tired of the food available. It was tasty, of course, but sometimes there's nothing that can satiate your craving for more home-cooked goodness.
That's when Natalie Tran decided to take matters into her own hands. She went out and bought a small coffee maker to bring along and packed a few foods that would need some preparing.
In the video, Natalie takes you through the process she uses for making home-cooked oatmeal, bacon, and even a few different varieties of eggs right in her hotel room by using her trusty coffee maker, some aluminum foil, and an iron (which you'll find in just about every hotel room on the planet).
The oatmeal is made right there in the coffee pot, as are the soft-boiled eggs, while the bacon and sunny-side up eggs require the use of some foil and a hot iron. It's all incredibly simple, and it's something that just about anyone could easily do while staying in a hotel.
The food might not taste quite as good as if you had a whole kitchen to cook in, but if you're looking to get a little taste of home while you're away, this is a great alternative. I know I'm going to try it next time I'm on vacation!
