I Smeared A Magnetic Face Mask On My Face And Was Blown Away By How Crazy It Looks Coming Off

Nowadays, it seems like there are a million skin care products out there. The number of options is so large that it can be ridiculously overwhelming.

Here at LittleThings, we've tried some of the wackiest ones: a bubble face mask, an "old skin" face mask, even a DIY detox face mask.

Some of them have been incredible, while others have been… underwhelming.

When I read about this magnetic face mask online, I rolled my eyes. I figured it would just be another one of these "trendy" masks that doesn't actually do much.

Of course, my skepticism also convinced me to buy it. I had to know whether the magnetic face mask would live up to its online reviews.

I decided to go with the Youthful Naturals Magnetic Face Mask, which retails for $28.99 on Amazon.

For less than $30, you get the mask, a spatula to smear it on your face, and a strong magnet that pulls the mask off.

What Is A Magnetic Face Mask?

A magnetic face mask is exactly what it sounds like: a face mask that has magnetic properties.

When you apply a magnet to the mask, the magnetic particles come off your face, leaving the other elements of the mask behind.

How It Works

The beginning of using the mask is pretty similar to most other masks.

Using the included spatula, you smear a thin layer of the mask all over your face.

The iron-rich formula sits on your face for 5 to 10 minutes, then you hold the included magnet near your skin and watch the magnetic iron particles come off.

My Experience

Needless to say, I was skeptical about using the mask. So skeptical, in fact, that I didn't use it for months after getting it.

Finally, after getting back from a vacation in Arizona's hot weather, I decided my skin needed some TLC.

After taking out the mask and spatula from the box, I started applying the mask to my skin.

Because the mask has an "iron-based formula," I assumed it would be kind of gritty. Fortunately, the mask was super smooth and soft.

Once the mask was smeared all over my face, I decided to look again at the supposed benefits of the mask.

The product description on Amazon says:

CLEANSING. Remove skin impurities, deeply clean the facial pores

NOURISH. Deeply nourish the skin and make your skin brightening [sic]

Once I'd waited the appropriate amount of time, I wrapped the magnet in a tissue (as the instructions recommended) and put it near my face.

I don't know what I was expecting, but what happened blew me away.

I felt the mask start pulling away from my face, and, piece by piece, the magnet peeled away the mask.

The magnetic parts of the mask weren't necessarily pulling away any impurities, but I was just so fascinated by the science of it all.

I continued moving the magnet until the entire mask had come off my face. I used three different tissues throughout the process.

I was so astounded by the way the mask came off that I immediately ran to show it to my boyfriend. He wasn't as impressed.

Even though most of the mask was off my face, I still had a thin layer of moist minerals on my skin.

Next, it was time to rub in the minerals for a few minutes. After the oily residue was thoroughly smeared around my face, I washed off the remainder of the mask with water.

I was surprised to find that my face didn't feel oily after I rinsed it off.

Final Thoughts

The next morning, my face not only felt refreshed, it also didn't feel too dry or too oily.

Would I use this mask again? Yes, definitely! It was a lot less messy than other masks, and it really feels like it works. Even though I've only used it once, I can already see some minor changes in my skin.

Would I recommend this mask to a friend? Without a doubt. Even though $30 might seem a little pricey, you can definitely get at least five uses out of the amount you get.
