Gavin Newsom Launches MAGA-Inspired Merch, Including ‘Trump Is Not Hot’ Shirts & $100 Bibles

Gavin Newsom has been trolling President Donald Trump on social media and has taken it a step further with his new merch. In a post clearly mocking Trump on August 24, 2025, Newsom announced that he is now selling “The GREATEST MERCHANDISE EVER MADE” (according to “MANY PEOPLE,” at least).

“THE PATRIOT SHOP IS NOW OPEN!!!!” Newsom wrote on X, adding numerous American flag emojis. The image he shared included four different merch items: two MAGA-inspired red hats, a Newsom 2026 mug, and a shirt that reads, “Trump is not hot.”

The “Trump is not hot” merch drop comes just after Newsom’s team made fun of Trump’s one-sided beef with Taylor Swift. Back in May, Trump randomly took to Truth Social to assert that Swift is “not hot.” He wrote, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'”

On August 19, Newsom’s team wrote the exact same kind of post about Kid Rock. “HAS ANYONE NOTICED THAT SINCE I SAID ‘I HATE KID ROCK’ HE’S NO LONGER ‘HOT?’” the post read.

Newsom’s merch drop also includes a “The Chosen One” T-shirt, which shows Newsom surrounded by Kid Rock, Tucker Carlson, and Hulk Hogan. Perhaps the most controversial item in the shop, however, is the $100 “Holy Bible.” The item description reads, “Signed by Gavin Newsom, America’s Favorite Governor!”

Though some people appeared to be outraged that Newsom included a Bible in his merch shop, the item was once again directly inspired by Trump. In 2024, Trump encouraged his supporters to purchase God Bless The USA Bibles for $60. “Happy Holy Week! Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless The USA Bible,” Trump wrote on Truth Social at the time. In a video promoting the Bibles, he said, “All Americans need a Bible in their home, and I have many. It’s my favorite book. It’s a lot of people’s favorite book.”

The website selling Trump Bibles, GodBlessTheUSABible.com, also offered some special edition Bibles, including a “The Day God Intervened” Edition “in remembrance of the day that God intervened during President Donald J. Trump’s assassination attempt.” A President Donald J. Trump Signature Edition of the Bible was priced at $1,000.

The Bible on Newsom’s website is currently listed as “sold out.” Shortly after Newsom’s new merch dropped, he wrote, “WOW! Bible already sold out!!” in another post mocking Trump.

However, some people were outraged that Newsom would post about the Bible in this way. “Mocking the Bible? You guys are disgusting,” one critic wrote in response to the post. At the same time, many others praised Newsom’s “A+ trolling.”

“It’s incredible how many Trump supporters don’t [realize] this is exactly what Trump is doing and how ridiculous it is,” one X user wrote. Someone else added, “MAGA in the comments still not getting the joke is my favorite part of these posts.”
