Identical Twin Nurses Devote Their Lives To Dying Patients

Tina Maggio and Gina Ranieri-Bender are two identical angels who made it their solemn duty to be there for people in the last moments of their lives. Stationed at the Gilchrist Center just off of Baltimore, these two hospice workers might seem bubbly at first, but when you see how seriously they take their jobs, you'll easily find tears welling up in your eyes.

We're never surprised when we hear stories about twins who end up doing the same thing; like the twin sisters who married twin brothers, these two were inspired when their grandfather died due to unnecessary procedures in his closing years. They feel that if he had been taken care of instead of operated on, he would have been allowed to spend his final moments in a more peaceful manner.

So from that day on they just knew that they both wanted to help ease the suffering of dying and sick patients. The sisters have a lot to deal with, their facility has 34 beds and they have to manage around 30 deaths per week. Even with those alarming numbers they always look forward to going to work every single day. "Because sometimes, especially in the ICU, when you have a patient whose hooked up to a lot of machines and a lot of tubes, you forget whose underneath all that."

These nurses often work opposite shifts, so for one patient it may actually seem like they're getting cared for by the same nurse. Who, never-ending in her duties, performs one of the most sacred jobs of all.

It's their job to remind the people in their beds that they matter, and these two angels do everything they can to ensure that their patient's ending moments are filled with respect, dignity, and love. Just like the Miss America contestant who realized what it really meant to be a nurse, these two sisters are true angels.
