Mom Fights For Her Life After Iowa Tornado Kills Her Husband And 2 Of Her Children

A mom is fighting for her life after a tornado ripped through her parents' home in Iowa.

Kuri Bolger was visiting her parents' home in Winterset, Iowa, when a deadly tornado ripped through the town. Kuri's husband, Mike Bolger, 37, was killed, as were her toddler son and 5-year-old daughter.

The oldest child, Brysen, survived and has been released from the hospital.

The tornado ripped through Kuri's parents' home. Her mom, Melissa Bazley, 63, was killed. Melissa's husband and adult son survived. According to authorities, two neighbors were also killed.

Kuri and her family do not live in Iowa. They were visiting from their home in Blue Springs, Missouri. Sadly, their trip ended up to be at the worst possible time. It ended up altering their family forever.

Kuri's exact condition isn't known, but as of right now, she is said to be fighting for her life. A close friend has set up a GoFundMe page to help with both funeral expenses and hospital bills.

“All funds will go directly to Kuri for hospital bills, ongoing expenses and provide proper celebrations of life for the family,” the page, organized by Kayla Nutt, says.

Officials say at least 25 to 30 homes were destroyed in the storm. Seven lives were lost.

Hopefully, Kuri will recover and be able to see her son soon. For now, donations are rolling in to help what is left of her family.

The GoFundMe has earned over $275,000 of the $300,000 goal in just a few days. "There will be a long road ahead for both of them and their entire family as Kuri lost her mother in the disaster as well," the page says. "Please help however you can during this tragic and challenging time."
