The family of 13-year-old Jayz Agnew is pleading with the public for answers after the eighth grader was shot and killed while raking leaves in his front yard. Juanita and Antione Agnew have asked the public to contact Crimesolvers with any leads.
Jayz was shot on November 8, 2022. The rake he was using is still outside his home, and his parents have said they are scared to leave their house.
Juanita Agnew told local news, "This cannot be another little boy with a bullet that goes unmentioned. We're going to go wherever we need to go to get justice for Jayz, because enough is enough."
Jayz's family does not know of anyone who could have held a grudge against the young boy, noting that he got along well with his 6-year-old sister. Juanita said, "Not at all, no. He wasn't that kind of kid. No," and his father added, "It cannot possibly be something he did, because he was too calm, he was cool like a cucumber."
Jayz's parents both work in health care; Juanita works at a local hospital, and Antione is a caregiver. Jayz shared their medical aspirations. As Juanita recounted, "He wanted to be a doctor, but specifically in the emergency room."
