"We've Got Tonight" is a song written by Bob Seger, from his 1978 album. In 1983, country-pop star Kenny Rogers recorded and released the song as a duet with pop star Sheena Easton. In the video below from 1985, Kenny Rogers is on his world tour when he goes into a solo performance of "We've Got Tonight." Everything is going according to plan, but when he goes to open his mouth for the second verse, a familiar voice cuts him off and seemingly appears out of nowhere. Rogers beams a knowing smile, and look who comes strutting out to the stage to join him…
…And it's none other than Dolly Parton herself!
The audience is shocked when the solo performance turns into an unexpected duet, and an incredible duet at that. My favorite part comes at the line, "Who needs tomorrow?" when Dolly replaces it with, "Who needs Sheena Easton?" as a playful nod to Rogers' hit duet. After all, everyone knows Dolly and Kenny have always had one of the most special relationships in music history.
This is such a wonderful duet. Please enjoy this unforgettable performance, and SHARE it with your friends on Facebook!
