There is nothing I love more than seeing a pet find its happy forever home.
Here at LittleThings, we've witnessed all kinds of stories with perfect endings for animals that were rescued and put up for adoption. There are even pets who have succeeded in finding their perfect homes thousands of miles away.
There are those who remain skeptical about adoption, purely because they think it would be unwise to take in an animal whose origins and character they'd be unfamiliar with.
To all those skeptics out there, I can only say one thing: adopted or not, all animals have souls. Some have the most amazing, most extraordinary hearts and capacity for empathy.
A few days ago, Seattle played host to a wonderful event that helped raise awareness for cat adoption. Together with the Seattle Animal Shelter, City Hall transformed into a pretty adorable sight. Read on to find out exactly what happened, and let us know what you think in the comments.

A few days ago, a throng of people lined up outside Seattle's City Hall, eager to see a long-awaited reveal...

For just one day, City Hall turned into Kitty Hall — an event held in partnership between the city and the Seattle Animal Shelter.

The event was held specially by official proclamation by Mayor Ed Murray, who was there to give the furballs a warm welcome.
The event aimed to raise awareness and to encourage people to adopt and foster cats.

This is the second annual event hosted by Mayor Murray, whose offices were overrun with the adorable kittens.

There were 11 kittens in total on loan from the Seattle Animal Shelter.

Shelter Director Don Jordan made a very clever point about having kittens in the office.

In addition to being "friendly, affectionate, and altogether awesome companions, [cats] are also the ultimate political animals," he told The Huffington Post by email.
"They stand firm on their beliefs and fight hard for what they want," he explained. "Though they are known to ignore their constituents if it suits them."

"If you have room in your home and your heart for an orphaned animal, this is a great opportunity to save a life," he said.

Thanks to Kitty Hall, 16 cats were adopted following last year's event. This was an incredible record — typically, only four or five cats get adopted each month.

Still, the shelter is only a temporary home to many other cats and kittens that are waiting to be adopted. There are also dogs, lizards, and other pets looking for forever homes.

Take a look at the shelter's Facebook page if you're interested in adopting!
