Has one of the longest living individuals just provided us with the ultimate life hack — the secret to long life? The answer is yes!
Over the years, some of the oldest people alive have been bothered for their secrets to living a long and happy life. We’ve gotten some other pretty great tips, but some that seem to go against Bernando’s, who was 110 years old at the time of this interview. For example, Veteran Richard Overton credits eating ice cream every night, drinking whiskey, and smoking cigars to his long life.
This couple's advice seems to be more in line with Bernando’s, stating that healthy eating, exercise, and napping every day make up the formula for a long life.
But Bernando LaPallo is now 115 years young, and his advice makes a lot of sense to us. In fact, it’s so simple, we’ve all been doing much of this already!
Eating properly is key, although there are five main ingredients that will increase your chances for long life, according to LaPallo: garlic, honey, olive oil, cinnamon, and our favorite — chocolate! Haven't we already been eating these?!
He says he gets plenty of rest and includes some exercise in his regime by walking every morning. He also bans red meat and processed foods from his diet. He keeps his mind active by reading, playing checkers, and completing crossword puzzles.
That’s some pretty sane advice!
