Lissette Arroyo grew up in Connecticut and moved to New York City. For the year that she lived there, she realized her job as a flight attendant caused her to waste a ton of money on rent.
She decided to make the switch and, instead of moving into another apartment or a house, she moved to the woods and bought a tiny home.
"I desired change and one that I wanted to fully have a life full of adventure," Lissette told LittleThings. "Sort of like a permanent vacation."
Lissette ditched 90% of her wardrobe and other belongings to fit into her new 150-square-foot house. She had no idea what she was in for but was excited to learn how to live with less.
From the air-conditioning, toilet, lights, and laundry, she had to figure it all out on her own.

Lissette Arroyo loves her career as a flight attendant, but the job keeps her away from home.
After living in New York City for a year, she realized she was wasting a ton of money on rent.
"I lived there for over a year and a half, and I did not like justifying living somewhere with just three months to really enjoy what the city has to offer," she told LittleThings.
So instead of moving into another apartment, Lissette downsized.
Lissette decided to buy a 150-square-foot tiny home in Florida and hasn't looked back.
"When I told my mom and brother, they were very concerned about me and my mental health," she told LittleThings. "Being a Latina, traveling is something that really isn't talked about. Mostly, it's about working hard to make a good living, get a man, have kids, and repeat the cycle."
Despite her mom's aversion to her new lifestyle, Lissette couldn't be happier in her new home — which she helped design.
"Living in a tiny house in the woods shows you how alone you are, and for me, I realized how I want to spend all my time outside of work and my home," she told LittleThings.
Lissette did admit that it wasn't a completely smooth transition to tiny living, and figuring out how "it all works" was hard.
She told LittleThings there was "a ton of learning curves moving into my house [and it was] a huge growing pain."
Lissette knew that when she made this huge life choice she would have to get rid of a lot of her belongings.
"At first [it was] very overwhelming and frustrating," she admitted to LittleThings. "I learned letting go was my key to my own happiness."
She now shops at thrift stores if she needs anything.
Lissette's home may be small, but she has many of the same amenities as normal apartments.
She has a projector screen instead of a TV, a kitchen, bathroom, and sitting area, to name a few.
The pint-sized house allows Lissette to travel whenever she wants.
"I don't come from money, so I wanted to be able to travel and not have this feeling of having to work even more hours because I took some time off," she told LittleThings. "I envisioned a life of doing things I love full-time — instead of when and if I can."
Lissette even made room for a guest loft in the tiny house — talk about maximizing space!
Lissette isn't stopping at her tiny home either! After falling in love with the idea of tiny living, she recently bought an old school bus and plans on converting it.
