Liz West Owns So Much Spice Girls Memorabilia That She’s Set A New Guinness Record

When I was a kid, I used to love reading the Guinness Book of World Records every year. It’s so fascinating to see the extremes that some people thrive in.

Sometimes, it’s as simple as owning an exceptionally large cat. Sometimes, it involves a great deal of training, as Ernestine Shepherd can attest to.

In this case, earning the nod from Guinness is a matter of sustaining a huge passion for a favorite pop group. Specifically, we’re talking about ‘90s global phenomena and style icons The Spice Girls.

Liz West, sometimes known as "The Sixth Spice Girl," is a longtime fan of the pop group. She’s been following the exploits of Posh, Ginger, Baby, Sporty, and Scary since their first single topped the charts in 1996 back when she was 11.

Since then, she’s amassed the world’s largest collection of Spice Girls paraphernalia, comprised of roughly 5,000 items. Her collection includes everything from costumes worn by the pop stars to unopened promotional items and themed collectibles.

Today, the 30-year-old artist keeps most of her collection with her in Manchester, England where she lives and works, but frequently loans it out to museums. She dreams of someday creating a dedicated museum or permanent exhibition for her collection.
