College Student Trims Off Two Feet Of Hair To Donate To Charity

Growing up, my dad would always make a huge deal about keeping my hair long and flowing. He would frequently quote the "crown of glory" verse from the Bible as his source, but he was really just a big hippie. I spent years letting it grow, but finally put the decision in my own hands as a moody teenager when I secretly snipped away at my tresses in the middle of the night. Sure, it didn't look great and my parents were furious, refusing to pay for a salon to clean it up for me, but I never felt more free.

Some women spend even longer before finally taking the plunge, and I honestly don't know how they do it! The process of keeping each strand healthy is hard enough on shoulder-length locks, let alone those that reach below your belly button. College student Madison Walker, however, embraced her mega-mane with frequent Instagram posts declaring, "long hair, don't care!" She clearly took the time and effort to take care of her blond locks, but recently realized there are others who could benefit from her overflowing follicles.

Heading to the salon, the Florida resident removed a whopping two feet of hair from her head, leaving plenty behind for a super-cute style! Separated into three ponytails, Walker plans to donate them to a charity that provides wigs for children who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy or autoimmune diseases. It's amazing to see someone not only embrace such a drastic change in their life, but do it for such an awesome reason!
