103-Year-Old Man Still Goes To Work At Wal-Mart Everyday

Loren Wade is 103 years old. The World War II veteran was born in 1912 but says he doesn't feel a day over 70.

These days Wade is making the news not because of his age, but because of what he is doing at his age.

Yes, Wade still goes to work five days a week at a Winfield, Kansas Wal-Mart. He waters plants, greets customers, and works the register. Everyone loves him.

Wade reminds me of 100-year-old Eileen Kramer, who is still a working dancer. Some people's passions just keep them younger, I guess!

"I like to meet the people and being here I get to talk to a lot of people," Wade told TODAY's Sheinelle Jones. "I like being occupied. I usually keep very busy, one thing or another. They see to it that I do."

Wade tried to retire in his 60s but it just wasn't his thing. He began working at Wal-Mart in 1983; thirty-two years later, he still loves his job.

The reason he hasn't quit? Besides keeping busy, Loren says that all of his other elderly friends who have stopped working have died within 6 months of their retirement.

"I think the man's here 24/7," one customer said. "He just, he just belongs here. It is his life, and he is ours."

Wade is a beacon of sunshine and proof that getting older doesn't mean you ever have to stop being yourself.
