It may seem like law enforcement officers have a bad rap sheet, but they often do a lot of good. They save pit bull pups from abusive drug dealers, befriend the homeless, and go over and beyond to help the elderly. Utah Trooper Jared Clanton is yet another upright officer. He was doing his normal patrol two days before Christmas when something out of the ordinary caught his eye. He pulled over and discovered a gift that had been left on the side of the road. Upon closer inspection, Clanton, who is the father of a young boy, noticed something that almost broke his heart — there was a Lego logo peaking out through the torn, bright green gift wrap. He knew he had to return this gift to the poor boy it was originally intended for — but how? Especially days before Christmas! Clanton did some police sleuthing of his own. He noticed that the package was decorated with a sticker that said “Creative Kidstuff,” and found out that it was a toy store in Minnesota. He called the store and spoke to management, but unfortunately came up empty. He then went on social media and pled to Utah Highway Patrol’s Facebook following for leads, but got nothing but dead ends. Christmas came and went, but Clanton still wanted to get the gift to its rightful owner — and eventually, he did! But that’s not all — he also got the gift to the boy right before a very special day!
