He Had No Idea He Was Being Photographed While He Did THIS In Front Of A Whale…

I remember getting my first cell phone in high school. It basically did four things: turned on, made calls, received calls, and turned off. I think it might have had a game loaded onto it?

It definitely didn't have music, wi-fi capabilities, GPS, internet, thousands of books, email, calendars, alarms, calculators, videos, cameras, magical women named Siri, ways to go meet new people for dates, maps, or even Angry Birds.

How did I ever survive with out it?!

Just kidding. I definitely miss those simpler times, especially when I'm out at dinner with friends and suddenly I look around to see we're all on Facebook instead of talking to one another.

Teenagers definitely get the worst reputation for this. The stereotype of the modern teenager is a person who can't look up from their phone for more than five minutes, but sometimes adults can be just as bad.

Recently, a photographer in Redondo Beach, CA photographed a man so engrossed in his cell phone that he missed the once-in-a-lifetime view of a humpback whale breaching the waves just a few feet in front of him. Eric says the whale flipped and jumped, but the man never once looked up from his phone the entire time.

Smith told ABC News, "He could have been texting his mom in the hospital for all I know, but I thought it sucked that he missed such a wonderful moment happening just two feet in front of him."
