Many people are curious about learning more about their ancestry. This interest has inspired many North Americans to try at-home ancestry tests, even if it's just for fun or out of curiosity. For some people, the results that they get are more or less what they expected.
Others are more surprised by what the tests reveal, and some have taken to social media to share their results. One man who falls into the latter camp shared his surprising ancestry test results on TikTok. Greg Curry is a photographer from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada.

He told Newsweek that he knew that he had "a strong history of Scottish and Irish ancestry." However, he was also "curious to see what would come up," he told the outlet.
He and his wife decided to complete their ancestry tests around the same time, and his wife's results contained some surprises, such as links to Italy and North Africa, he said.
While he knew about his "strong history of Scottish and Irish ancestry," he was not prepared to find out just how strong that history was. When he got his results back, he discovered that he is 100% Scottish and Irish. Sharing the results on TikTok, he wrote, "100% diversity."
"Me paying 23&me $100 to tell me i'm 100% Scottish Irish," he wrote over the images he shared.

Although his results were not radically different from what he expected, Greg told Newsweek that "it is wild to have 100 percent."
"I'm not sure how normal it is," he told the outlet, though some TikTok users shared that the same thing happened to them.
"DUDE!!!!! SAMEEEEEE!!!!" one person commented on TikTok. "I HAVE 1 COLOR ON MY CIRCLE."
