Have you ever received a text message that completely changed your life? For a woman named Lane, all it took was one message from a stranger for her to discover that her life had been one giant lie.
On a seemingly normal day, Lane got a cryptic text message from a phone number that wasn’t saved in her contacts. The stranger’s message instructed Lane to go to Ancestry.com and take a DNA test.
TikTok user, Lane (@laneiscool14), posted a short video detailing how a single text message “changed [her] life forever.”
In the video posted to social media, Lane describes how at first she thought that the message was fake, so she called a friend and they told her that they had a weird “gut” feeling that it was real, so she responded to the message.
The correspondence showed how Lane asked the person messaging her for some kind of proof, but all they told her was to do the DNA test as then she would see. Lane explains that she quickly phoned her mom to see if she could tell her anything and this was when the life-changing bomb was dropped.

Her mom told her that she knew exactly why this message was sent to Lane. It was because when she was in college, she had an affair with a younger man who was Lane’s biological father. Even though the man had made a few attempts to reach out to Lane and her mother over the years, her mom ultimately wouldn't allow him to make direct contact with his daughter.
