On September 11, 2014, the town of Manchester, England was rocked by a terrible tragedy. The Manchester Dogs' Home, an animal shelter and adoption center for strays, was set fire by a troubled teenager. Click here to read our original report.
More than 50 dogs perished in the flames and Dawn Bradbury was convinced that her two-year-old Bichon Frisé was one of them. The Bradbury family's dog, Leo, had gone missing earlier in the week, on Tuesday, and was brought to the shelter. Bradbury tracked down her pet on Thursday and was set to pick up the dog the next day, Friday. However, fate had other plans. The fire broke out Thursday night and all of Bradbury's hopes were shattered. Bradbury's four young kids were up all night screaming and crying for the dog.
She quickly rushed to the dogs home, a scene that was not promising at all. “Eventually I had to go home because I was convinced he had died. I found out he was in Block Five which is where the fire was.” she told reporters. The next morning she heard that survivors were taken somewhere else, so she went to the other dogs and found her little Leo. This video shows the moment the distraught family reunited with their sweet dog, but it isn’t the BEST part of the story. (If you love survivor stories you need to read about “El Afortunado”!)
“There were two other Bichon Frises who could have been Leo and I have promised to adopt them both. I could not leave therm there after all that has happened.”
