Most of us are lucky to know or to have known our mothers and fathers. If we grew up with them by our side, we live with both of their influences in our lives and our personalities.
But some people passed through the stages of childhood and into adulthood without knowing their mother or their father, or both. While this doesn't stop them from being successful and productive individuals in society, they may feel like a part of them is missing.
Logan Thompson is a Marine and father himself. At 32 years old, he never knew his dad — until now.
When he was just 3 months old, his mother moved away to Alaska and took him with her after she and his dad, John Frye, split up.
It took them all those years to be reunited. And the footage of their first meeting is absolutely priceless.
Neither of them holds back tears, and they collapse into one another's arms in the middle of an airport. In their hearts, they know that they waited too long for the moment.
But now, both agree that it's time to leave the past behind them, and to start again as a complete family. They look forward to creating many more emotional memories together.
