Just because we can, doesn't mean we should.
A Scottish ice cream shop has gone majorly viral after releasing a new flavor of the creamy dessert that tastes exactly like mayonnaise, because apparently nothing is sacred anymore.
Located in the village of Redding, Falkirk, ICE Artisan Ice Cream has made a name for itself by inventing unique (albeit sometimes questionable) flavors. Its lineup of creations has included oddities like Monster Energy ice cream and Strongbow Dark Fruit Cider ice cream.
ICE founder Kyle Gentleman told the Independent that his latest concoction was inspired by his "love of mayo" (naturally).
For what it's worth, most people can agree that mayonnaise is delicious on, say, a BLT, or when mixed in a potato salad. But as a stand-alone ice cream flavor?! It's no surprise that news of ICE's mayo-y dessert has got the internet totally divided…
The recipe for mayo-flavored ice cream is simple: According to Kyle, the shop makes it by mixing its homemade dairy ice cream mix with Hellmann's mayonnaise.
"People actually enjoy it once they try it," he told the Independent.
"Surprisingly it actually works as an ice cream — creamy and smooth."
Despite Kyle's assertion, people around the world are put off by the mere idea of the flavor.
Twitter blew up after news of the mayo-y ice cream flavor broke.
Most people on social media were fine with mayo and ice cream as separate entities, but together? Hard pass.
(Those are fightin' words!)
Not everyone was completely against it, though.
A few brave souls volunteered to sample mayo ice cream on behalf of humanity.
To be fair, it probably makes a delicious dip for french fries!
And hey, there are weirder flavors out there…
And if chicken wing ice cream doesn't trip your trigger, try the pickle-flavored variety:
Would you ever give Cheeto-flavored ice cream a try?
How about smoked ham ice cream? (Yes, you read that right.)
(It comes with a black truffle and white chocolate dip!)
I dare you to try this lobster ice cream:
Or maybe gulp squid ink ice cream is more your thing?
What a time to be alive.
Would you try mayo ice cream or any of these other unconventional flavors?
