More Than 50 Meteorologists Across The Country Purchased The Same Exact $23 Dress

There’s a surprising fashion phenomenon sweeping news stations across the nation these days, and it’s revealing a whole hidden world behind the storm clouds and sunny days that we normally associate with our favorite local weather reporters.

You may not have ever thought much about what your meteorologist wears on air, but a recent Reddit thread has revealed that the job comes equipped with a laundry list of dress code restrictions.

The same way the Cannes Film Festival imposes strict rules on attendees, news stations nationwide enforce a handful of fashion rules for female meteorologists. Ideally, the dresses they wear are modest, free of distracting prints and lace, and brightly colored (but not green, which can affect the weather map).

Besides all of that, the dress needs to look good on camera, since news personalities tend to face a lot of criticism for what they wear. Female meteorologists trade fashion tips in a handful of private Facebook groups, and a few weeks ago, somebody posted this link to what quickly became the de facto weather reporter uniform. And it's easy to see why: the dress' beautiful, bold colors and flattering cut are sure to flatter and impress!

Believe it or not, it really is just $23 and you can buy it here!

It's easy to see why the dress became so popular. For one thing, it comes in seven different colors, almost all of which are bright jewel tones perfect for showing up on camera.

Shelby Hays, above, of KOCO News also noted that the low price point makes it possible to get a variety of outfits for the cost of one dress somewhere else, telling Tech Insider, “At $23, we could buy a handful of these dresses for what we normally pay for just one.”

The dress, from the brand Homeyee, costs just $23, making it ideal for reporters on a budget, since most news stations don’t cover the expense of a different dress for every day of the week.

The modest cut of the dress also makes it perfect for female weather reporters who don’t want to have to worry about a wardrobe malfunction on live television.

In fact, it checks so many boxes for female weather reporters that, according to Fox 4 Dallas meteorologist Jennifer Meyers, pictured above left, more than 50 broadcast meteorologists have now purchased the same dress.

And here she is on-air with her cohost Jenny Anchondo, both rocking the same dress!

Ms. Myers even created a collage celebrating the success of “the dress," posting it on Facebook  and thus prompting the Reddit thread. It’s captioned, “This is what happens when you post a link to a $23 dress on Amazon that flatters everyone to a female meteorologist Facebook group.”
