Music is a powerful thing! A beautiful melody can move me to tears or fill me with indescribable joy. When I first heard singer/songwriter Michaela Baranov sing, I was really moved by how clear her voice is and how stunningly gorgeous her songs are. She writes all of her own lyrics and melodies, and each time I listen to her songs, I hear something new.
She has been produced all over the world and, for the past three years, has toured extensively through Europe and the United States. But I think there's something really special and heartfelt in her new song — "How Long Will I Love You?" — which she wrote not for fame or attention, but as a favor to a friend.
Her friend asked Michaela to write a song for his daughter, Deva, that could be played at her bat mitzvah to express his love for her. As Michaela tells it, "My friend in NYC asked me to sing this song for his daughter on a really big day for her. I think it's such a beautiful song and it was a real challenge for me to sing without crying!"
Michaela told us that she's also very close to her dad, which is why I think you can really feel the emotion come through in her voice and in her writing.
I can't help but think of my dad, and I think this song could easily become a standard that represents the love between daughters and fathers, though anyone can easily appreciate it.
Please SHARE this gorgeous song with someone you love.
