The second grader was found sheltering under a log. He appeared to be in good health when the volunteer search team found him.

It was shared that the man who carried Nante out of the woods, Eli Talsma, is a high school student at Hurley High School in Wisconsin, which is where the 8-year-old is from. You can see Nante harnessed on Eli's back wearing a purple shirt.

Nante's grandmother, Kathy Niemi, shared an update to her Facebook after her grandson was found. "Now I have to thank each and everyone of you who Prayed for his safe return," the post started. "God is good! Prayers were answered and we have our Nante home safe and sound."

She went on to thank the search and rescue teams along with law enforcement agencies, the search dogs and their handlers, and even AT&T and Verizon for their mobile cell towers and drones. "But most of all THANKS BE TO GOD," she ended the post.

State police issued a statement after Nante's rescue. “He had braved the elements by taking shelter under a log where he was ultimately found. He is in good health and reunited with his family.”

"Lieutenant Wickstrom says the boy told them he covered up with branches and leaves for warmth and also blanketed the log he was under. He didn't have any food but ate clean snow for hydration," authorities said. "He walked a trail yesterday (Sunday) and when he ran out of trail, he figured the best thing to do was to just stop and wait."
