Baby Is Born On The Brink Of Death. After A Miracle, She Looks So Different

Kylie Monica was born with strange defects and a failing heart. Doctors could not figure out what was wrong with the baby girl and told her parents that she might be dead the next morning.

After many ups and downs, Kylie's doctor figured out she had a condition so rare it only affects 20 to 50 children each year in both the United States and Canada. Kylie was diagnosed with Diamond-Blackfan anemia.

The only chance at saving her life was a bone marrow transplant, specifically from a sibling. Just when her parents, Joe and Heather Monica, thought they might have a cure for the baby girl, tests quickly revealed that none of Kylie's siblings were a match.

Joe and Heather were forced to make an important decision. Would they have another baby in hopes that the child would be a bone marrow match for Kylie? The couple realized they wanted to have more kids anyway. Heather became pregnant with Kylie's little sister, Jordan.

Incredibly, Jordan was a match. The transplant was a success and you'd never know that Kylie was ever anything but healthy today. Moreover, if you're wondering if Joe and Heather only had another child to save Kylie's life, think again: she is just one of 10 siblings these days.

"Not many people get to meet their heroes," Heather said. "But I got to give birth to mine."
