Baker Pours Gooey Blue Icing Over A Smooth Cake For A Shiny, Stunning Finish

I will be honest, I'm far from the world's most talented baker. My experiments in the kitchen must be guided by someone much more adept than me, mostly for the safety of anyone who might try a bite of my creations.

That said, I definitely can't see myself tackling any of the super-detailed decorations I've seen some bakers pull off, like the one who whipped up an eerily realistic pineapple cake.

At first, I thought the technique below was similarly out of my wheelhouse, but it really couldn't be any easier! Known as "mirror glazing," the bakers use a bit of gelatin in their frosting mixtures in order to give off the shiny, reflective appearance.

While the result is amazing, it's equally as awesome to watch while the bright, gooey confection rolls its way over the smoothed over cake in an almost hypnotizing way.

Most examples I've found so far have relied on the marbled look of combining a few different shades, but chipper chef Rosanna Pansino decided to combine two of her most frequent requests into one with her galaxy themed mirror glaze below.

The idea is the same as any other attempt, only she chose the celestial hues of blues, purples, and pinks for her food dye. After pouring it on, she goes one step further with some extra accents that really seal the starry image.

Take a look, and see if you're inspired to give the recipe a shot, too.

And don't forget to SHARE the gorgeous idea with your friends!
