A student who went missing while studying abroad in France has been located alive and well.
Kenny DeLand Jr. was reported missing weeks ago. But his father revealed he's spoken to his son. He's alive, healthy, and in Spain.
“He is alive — that’s all I can say,” dad Ken DeLand Sr. told CNN this week. As for what he is doing in Spain, he didn't say.
It's unclear what the 22-year-old has been doing for the past two weeks, or why he didn't contact his family sooner. According to CNN, the news of DeLand being located came just after his father hung up with a broadcaster he had been talking to, discussing the case. After he hung up, he got the news that his son was OK, then messaged the broadcaster to share the news.
The student's family had been incredibly worried and said they were "fearing the worst." The senior at St. John Fisher University in Rochester had been attending the Université Grenoble Alpes in France and hadn't spoken to his family since November 27, when he messaged them on WhatsApp.
Two days later, on November 29, he was reported missing by his fellow students, who said he seemed "depressed."
